Chow’s Quirky “Nobody” NFTs Make a Splash

Stephen Chow, the acclaimed Hong Kong director behind classics like Kung Fu Hustle, has made a splashy entrance into the world of NFTs. His new “Nobody” NFT collection has seen over $23 million in trading volume since launching earlier this month.

The limited edition set features 10,000 profile picture NFTs inspired by the quirky characters from Chow’s films. To promote the project, Chow changed his own social media avatars to the Nobody designs and encouraged his millions of followers to do the same. The collectibles were created in collaboration with rapper MC Jin and Moonbox, a Hong Kong startup focused on AI-generated NFTs.

Demand for the Nobodies has been high, with over 125,000 users signing up for an airdrop whitelist event hosted by cryptocurrency exchange OKX. The total supply is capped at 10,000, adding to the exclusivity.

According to Chow and the Moonbox team, this is just the beginning for the Nobody intellectual property. They hint at plans to expand the franchise into new mediums beyond the crypto space, bringing its oddball appeal to mainstream audiences. Nobody NFT holders will get special access and input into future development.

For now, the crypto art community is abuzz about Chow’s star-powered entry into NFTs. His legendary status in pop culture ensures interest in the Nobody collection will remain high. As the project grows its fanbase, all eyes are on what Chow might do next with his beloved characters.
