The Base layer-2 network has launched a free 8-week training course called Base Bootcamp aimed at upskilling traditional software developers into blockchain coders.
The intensive program will pair students with mentors for weekly check-ins, offer access to oinbase">Coinbase and Base engineers, create a private Discord for collaboration, and provide graded assignments.
At the end of the course, students will build their own Web3 application and present it during a demo day. Participants must provide a 1 ETH deposit, returned upon graduation.
Base cited the blockchain industry’s shortage of qualified developers as rationale for the bootcamp. The hands-on curriculum aims to address the gap through mentor-led training.
Applicants must have mid to senior software engineering experience to qualify. With under 20 students per cohort, the program offers an exclusive opportunity to gain blockchain expertise.
The free course underscores Base’s commitment to expanding Web3’s limited pool of 30,000 developers compared to traditional software’s 30 million coders. More skilled blockchain builders are vital for mainstream adoption.
