Cryptocurrency exchange Bull Bitcoin has expanded operations from Canada to Costa Rica. The company integrated with the country’s widely-used SINPE Movil digital payment infrastructure, enabling seamless swaps between colones (Costa Rica’s national currency) and bitcoin.
Over 60% of Costa Ricans use SINPE Movil, an interbank real-time settlement service run by the nation’s central bank. The platform allows users to instantly send and receive money via mobile phone numbers.
Bull Bitcoin founder Francis Pouliot said SINPE integration is a major advance for bitcoin adoption in Costa Rica given the payment network’s broad use. Costa Ricans and tourists can now buy and sell BTC with colones in seconds.
The move accelerates a bitcoin circular economy in Costa Rica’s “Golden Triangle”, where Bitcoin Jungle is promoting BTC adoption. The partnership provides Bull Bitcoin key insights as it aims to expand across Latin America.
