McDonald’s Singapore Launches Exclusive Grimace NFT Collection

On the heels of viral Grimace hype on TikTok, McDonald’s in Singapore has partnered with local NFT artist Bandwagon Labs and The Hidden Walls to release 2,000 free NFTs of the beloved purple mascot on August 21. Leveraging recent interest surrounding Ronald McDonald’s best friend, the collectible digital art showcases Grimace in various styles.

Unlike most NFTs, these will be “Soulbound” – meaning they cannot be traded or sold after minting. This allows owners exclusive McDonald’s memorabilia that no one else can own. The NFTs also promise unlockable “treats” in the future. Thanks to blockchain technology, interested individuals can easily mint via MetaMask or Web3Auth. The Soulbound nature makes these NFTs one-of-a-kind McDonald’s keepsakes.

This foray into NFTs builds on previous McDonald’s blockchain projects. In 2021, McDonald’s China launched 188 NFTs for its 31st anniversary, later releasing NFT art honoring menu staples like the McRib and Big Mac. After a two-year break, last month McDonald’s Hong Kong debuted an Ethereum game for Chicken McNuggets’ 40th anniversary in The Sandbox metaverse.

By seizing the Grimace trend to offer NFT collectibles in Singapore, McDonald’s shows its commitment to engaging consumers through digital innovation. The Grimace NFT drop follows other McDonald’s NFT and blockchain initiatives as the company continues embracing new technology.
