Krafton Settlus: Cosmos-Based Blockchain for Creator Settlements

South Korean video game company Krafton recently announced plans to launch a new Cosmos-based blockchain called Settlus. The blockchain is designed to provide creators with transparent settlement systems, according to reports.

Settlus testnet is expected to launch in early 2024. Earlier in 2022, Krafton had announced a blockchain game on Solana but has not launched any products on it yet.

As described on its website, Settlus aims to be a purpose-built blockchain offering transparent settlements for creators. Planned features include using NFTsfor royalty rights, on-demand payouts via transaction records, stablecoin gas fees, and bridgeless NFT interoperability.

“Our goal is to serve as the gateway connecting web2 products with the diverse realms of web3, rather than empty promises of creating a new universe,” stated the Settlus team. Its first project is called Project Migaloo.

The Settlus team said they believe in their vision but want to validate it is what creators want. Through the metaverse project Migaloo, they hope to validate their beliefs.

Settlus envisions transparent, borderless settlements coupled with NFT royalties as a catalyst for creators. “As Migaloo accumulates creations, and as unique IPs from other chains flow in, the Settlus ecosystem will grow exponentially with content platforms,” the team claimed.

Krafton is best known for developing the popular shooter game PUBG, which has over 294 million users globally. The gaming firm is dedicated to publishing highly enjoyable games worldwide.

The launch of Settlus represents Krafton’s first major blockchain initiative. If adoption grows among creators, it could establish a new transparent royalty and settlement standard for the industry.
