Blackpink Launches Roblox Metaverse

K-pop supergroup Blackpink is entering the metaverse by launching an immersive fan experience on Roblox. After making history as the first K-pop band to headline Coachella this year, Blackpink is now bringing their music and fandom into a virtual world.

Blackpink: The Palace, set to launch on Roblox on August 25th, will give fans a permanent hub to interact with the band beyond the physical world’s constraints. Fans can recreate the group’s famed choreography, take photos with member avatars, customize looks, and earn rewards by completing in-game challenges.

The Crystal Hammer activity pays homage to the lightsticks fans wield at real concerts. Roblox events have become a prime space for K-pop artists during the pandemic, allowing virtual concerts with global reach.

With the Korean government investing heavily in metaverse platforms, more K-pop activations are expected. The online shift aligns with tech-savvy K-pop fandoms. Some groups like Aespa already have virtual avatars for metaverse performances.

Blackpink is leaning into digital realms, winning MTV’s first Metaverse award for collaborating with PUBG Mobile. As pioneers reach new frontiers like Coachella and now Roblox, Blackpink cement their status as K-pop trailblazers entering the metaverse era.
