According to a new report, Google’s latest cash infusion comes on top of the $550 million it injected into Anthropic earlier this year as well as a multi-year cloud deal worth over $3 billion.
The news comes right after rival tech giant Amazon funneled $4 billion into Anthropic in October 2022.
Anthropic, run by siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, is utilizing the fresh capital to train its AI systems like conversational assistant Claude. The startup aims to achieve major breakthroughs in natural language AI.
The pair left OpenAI, the creator of the viral chatbot ChatGPT, last year over disputes around AI safety protocols. Since 2019, OpenAI has received a mammoth $13 billion investment from Microsoft as it develops more advanced AI systems.
