IEEE India Partners With Avalanche to Issue Verifiable Certificates

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in India has partnered with Avalanche Blockchain">Blockchain to issue tamper-proof certificates that document educational achievements.

With over 75,000 members, India has the second largest IEEE membership outside of the United States. By utilizing Avalanche’s blockchain technology, IEEE will be able to generate verified certificates instantly, ensuring their immutability.

Avalanche was selected due to its ability to guarantee the security, longevity, and immutability of records, making it compatible with credential registries and identity management systems. Notably, major institutions such as SK Planet and JPMorgan Onyx also use Avalanche for these reasons.

The blockchain certificates will be managed through LegitDoc, a credential system developed by Zupple Labs and built on Avalanche’s C-Chain. This chain was chosen for its interoperability with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

Experts note the increasing adoption of comprehensive blockchain projects within India’s public sector. They are open to exploring new platforms as parallel settlement layers as the technology continues to advance.

In summary, blockchain technology is revolutionizing education by enhancing transparency, security, and efficiency. Digital certificates, in particular, mitigate the risk of fraud, simplify verification processes, and give individuals ownership over their credentials. This has the potential to enable decentralized, globally interoperable education ecosystems in the future.
