The highly dynamic team shooter game, The Machines Arena (TMA), is gearing up for its inaugural in-game “season” starting on Tuesday, offering players a unique opportunity to earn exclusive rewards that will not be obtainable once the season concludes – and eventually allowing them to mint these rare finds as NFTs.
Even though the Machines Arena is currently available only in closed beta via the Epic Games Store, players can apply for access through the official website of the game to enlist in the first season, which will be held from July 11 till September 26.
As part of the inaugural season of The Machines Arena, players will have the opportunity to experience a brand new map called Blacksite in the thrilling “Pushback” game mode, reminiscent of Overwatch 2’s “Push” mode. In this mode, two teams consisting of four players each engage in intense battles to eliminate the opposing team and successfully push a cart vehicle toward the enemy base within the given time limit.
While renowned for its intense player-versus-player (PVP) battles, TMA also provides players with a player-versus-environment (PVE) mode known as Death Run, which has received notable enhancements in the first beta season. This update introduces a fresh character, Xe, and includes a multitude of quality-of-life improvements to enhance the overall PVE experience.
Although TMA is promoted as a blockchain game under development, the incorporation of NFTs and crypto elements has not been implemented at this stage. However, indications suggest that these features are currently being developed and will be introduced in the future.
Ronin, the Ethereum scaling network, has been selected by The Machines Arena to facilitate its NFTs. Although the game does not yet have NFTs, players can expect to see the release of eight fresh character skins this season which will be available for on-chain minting at an unrevealed date in the future.
Players who have invested significant time into the game and reach levels 25, 50, 75, and 100 will be rewarded with exclusive character skins for Zulu, Xe, Tesla, and Daye, respectively. Additionally, TMA is providing special character skins to its early players, content creators, and selected esports players as a token of appreciation.
Alpha testers of TMA will be granted an exclusive Pyro character skin as a gesture of gratitude for their contribution. In addition to this, those who played TMA before the initiation of its first beta season will receive a Nightcore skin. The TMA Championship victors of 2021 will obtain a golden Pyro skin and the content creators who involved themselves in TMA’s closed beta will be awarded a Daye skin plated with chrome.
Instead of keeping The Machines Arena hidden until its official launch, Directive Games, following the approach of many blockchain game developers, is providing players with a more comprehensive experience during the beta phase. Distinct from early-access games in the traditional gaming industry, players will not lose their earned XP or skins when the game transitions to its full release.
According to the Community Lead of Directive Games, Giorgio Crosali, “Any collectible they unlock in the game is theirs forever,” Crosali stated in an interview with Decrypt that the specific date for when players can transfer their cosmetics onto the blockchain has not been finalized yet.
