Meta Integrates Powerful AI Chatbot Across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp

In a bold move to bring artificial intelligence to the forefront of its user experience, Meta has integrated its latest AI chatbot, powered by the Llama 3 model, across its massively popular social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. This announcement, made by co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, marks a significant step in Meta’s pursuit of developing cutting-edge AI technology and making it accessible to a vast user base.

“We are releasing the new version of Meta AI, our assistant that you can ask any question across our apps and glasses,” Zuckerberg said in a video posted on Instagram. “Our goal is to build the world’s leading AI and make it available to everyone.”

Alongside the integration of Meta AI into its social media ecosystem, the company has also released the core components of Llama 3 under an open-source license, allowing for public use and review. This move aligns with Meta’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration within the AI community.

After facing challenges with its Metaverse ambitions in late 2022, Meta has pivoted its focus to generative AI, recognizing its potential to revolutionize the user experience across its platforms. The release of Llama 3 and its integration into Meta’s apps is a direct response to the growing demand for advanced AI capabilities in everyday digital interactions.

“The bottom line is that we believe that Meta AI is now the most intelligent AI assistant that you can freely use,” Zuckerberg stated, highlighting the company’s confidence in the capabilities of its latest AI model.

Starting today, users logging into Meta’s apps will notice a new, free-to-use Meta AI search bar added to WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger. Additionally, Meta AI is available through the dedicated website for logged-in Facebook users, providing a seamless experience across multiple touchpoints.

Zuckerberg emphasized that both the desktop and mobile versions of Meta AI can create high-quality images, with the desktop version offering an instant preview of the final image as the user types the prompt. Once created, these images can also be animated into short three-second clips, further enhancing the creative possibilities.
