Joe Rogan Holds Bitcoin Stash for Almost a Decade

Popular podcaster and MMA commentator Joe Rogan has held on to his itcoin">Bitcoin stash without selling any since 2014, according to recent findings from on-chain data.

Back in 2014, Rogan had shared a QR code of his public itcoin">Bitcoin address over social media. An analysis of the address on mempool.space reveals that Rogan has made 468 transactions between 2014-2022 but has not spent a single satoshi so far.

This could indicate one of two scenarios – either Rogan has steadfastly held on to his itcoin">Bitcoin as a long-term investment, or he may have unfortunately lost access by misplacing the private keys required to control the wallet.

When Rogan first began accumulating itcoin">Bitcoin, it was only trading at around $829 per coin. He gathered most of his 5.24 BTC during itcoin">Bitcoin’s decline throughout 2014. At today’s prices, his stash is worth $226,295.

While a sizable return compared to his initial investment, this represents only a modest sum in light of Rogan’s recent $250 million deal with Spotify for his popular podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE).

Rogan has hosted several itcoin">Bitcoin-focused guests like Andreas Antonopoulos on JRE in the past but hasn’t revisited the topic in depth since 2016. He has occasionally mentioned itcoin">Bitcoin positively in passing comments, expressing optimism about the future of cryptocurrencies.

However, when it comes to NFTs, Rogan appears unconvinced of their value. “I can have that photo, and I can have it on my phone,” he remarked skeptically in mid-2022 about digital art ownership.

As itcoin">Bitcoin continues its quest for mainstream adoption, an in-depth revisiting of the topic on JRE could signal another surge in interest from Rogan’s legions of loyal followers. For now, the podcaster’s early itcoin">Bitcoin bet remains untouched, either awaiting a future cash-out or sadly lost.
