Buenos Aires Adds Ethereum to High School Curriculum

In a groundbreaking move, the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is set to incorporate Ethereum and blockchain technology into its high school curriculum. This initiative, announced by the ETH Kipu Foundation in collaboration with Argentina’s Ministry of Education, aims to provide students with hands-on experience in blockchain technology through courses and internships.

The program, scheduled to begin on August 27, will introduce students to Ethereum and blockchain concepts in classroom settings. Additionally, an online Solidity course will be implemented, targeting 500 students over 18 years old to develop skills in creating decentralized applications (DApps). To support this educational push, ETH Kipu plans to prepare 30 instructors to deliver comprehensive Ethereum and blockchain training to students.

Paula Doy, co-founder of ETH Kipu, emphasized that this integration goes beyond teaching technology; it equips students with tools to “shape the future.” The initiative is expected to open up new career opportunities for young people and position Argentina at the forefront of the global blockchain movement. This educational program builds on the success of a recent Ethereum workshop conducted by ETH Kipu and the Ethereum Foundation, which brought together 200 students to learn about blockchain.

This educational initiative comes against the backdrop of Argentina’s growing cryptocurrency adoption, driven largely by the country’s skyrocketing inflation rate. With a 276% annual inflation rate, Argentina leads the Western hemisphere in crypto adoption, with citizens turning to digital assets, particularly stablecoins like Tether (USDT), to preserve the value of their funds. The country’s embrace of blockchain education reflects a broader trend of leveraging cryptocurrency as a hedge against economic instability, potentially positioning Argentina as a hub for blockchain innovation and adoption in Latin America.
