Animoca Brands’ subsidiary Darewise Entertainment plans to launch a new metaverse token on Bitcoin">Bitcoin. It will power the ecosystem for Darewise’s upcoming game Life Beyond.
Darewise will use Bitcoin Ordinals, which allows creating tokens pegged to satoshis, to mint the new metaverse token. It aims to integrate the token into Life Beyond for assets, virtual lands, and more.
The studio will work with Horizen Labs, who helped develop ApeCoin’s tokenomics. Life Beyond previously released NFTs on Polygon.
For Animoca Brands, the Bitcoin metaverse token represents continuous Web3 innovation. Animoca CEO Robby Yung said pioneering Ordinals fits the company’s ethos.
Darewise co-founder Benjamin Charbit also highlighted Bitcoin’s potential to become more than a store of value through products like Ordinals.
The new token is separate from Animoca’s Mocaverse project, though the universes will collaborate. Animoca is a major metaverse and crypto gaming investor, with a portfolio valuation reaching nearly $6 billion as of September 2022.
