Crypto Community urges Elon Musk to Remove Fake Satoshi ‘X’ Account

Members of the cryptocurrency community are calling on X owner Elon Musk to remove an account impersonating Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. The account is accused of violating X’s terms of service prohibiting misleading identities.

On October 3rd, a viral X post from user Pledditor argued that the fake Satoshi account, as well as one for “Bitcoin,” should be taken down for masquerading as identities that don’t belong to the account holders. Pledditor pointed out these are clear violations of X’s ban on misappropriating other people’s identities.

The real Satoshi Nakamoto remains unknown, though the disputed account is reportedly operated by someone claiming to post Satoshi quotes. After years of dormancy, it recently became active again, further angering crypto users who find the charade embarrassing and misleading.

Many have rallied behind removing the accounts, recalling X’s quick action against other prominent fake accounts. Satoshi’s true identity has been hotly debated within crypto circles, with a few individuals falsely proclaiming themselves as Bitcoin’s creator over the years.
