By utilizing Lightning, AI developers can avoid traditional payment systems that can be cumbersome and costly, and they can also explore new possibilities like pay-per-use AI models.
Lightning Labs expressed their enthusiasm for the innovative potential that these advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs) bring to the AI landscape. They also clarified that the tools they have developed leverage the “L402 protocol,” which serves as a Lightning-native authentication mechanism. Additionally, the tools make use of “Langchain,” a library that simplifies the operations involving AI applications.
Lightning Labs also acknowledged the challenge posed by current Large Language Models (LLMs) that lack native support for web-based payment methods. As a result, AI developers are compelled to depend on outdated payment systems like credit cards, which burden their users with additional fees. The team emphasized the growing number of intelligent LLMs or AI Agents that encounter difficulty in accessing conventional payment systems and typically do not hold official registration as an “entity” in any specific nation.
