London Police Shut Down 43 Crypto Phishing Sites

London’s financial cybercrime police unit has disabled access to 43 websites linked to cryptocurrency phishing scams and fraud – including one masquerading as top crypto firm blockchain.com.

The National Fraud Intelligence Bureau uncovered a spoof blockchain.com email address and 42 additional registered phishing domains featuring deceitful names like “actionfraud” and “department-fraud.” Authorities rapidly blocked the malicious sites upon discovery.

Phishing campaigns continue posing threats to unwitting crypto investors, exploiting lax security practices as seen in a recent hack of email marketing provider MailerLite. The London police crackdown offers a blueprint for proactive disruption of fraud infrastructure through vigilance and early reporting of suspicious activity.
