Cryptoys, an NFT-focused digital toy company backed by Andreessen Horowitz, announced it will release a new collection featuring some of Disney’s most iconic characters.
On Monday, Cryptoys said they are “incredibly excited” to partner with Disney on their upcoming drop of digital collectibles.
The new Cryptotoys collection launching in September will include Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Pluto. Cryptoys is collaborating with Disney to bring these globally beloved characters into the NFT space as unique digital toys.
According to the Cryptoys website, the ‘Mickey and Friends’ collection will include 15 limited-edition digital toys, along with playable accessories. In a live stream, it was revealed the NFTs will have a similar rarity structure to previous releases: Common, Rare, Legendary, Grail, and Ultra Grail – with 5 variants of Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto at each level.
Unlike previous drops, collectors who complete the entire set have a chance to earn an exclusive Grail or Ultra Grail Sorcerer’s Apprentice Mickey that can’t be purchased.
The Cryptoys team is exploring ideas to offer more rare versions to a wider collector base “so there’ll be something for everyone.” CEO Will Weinraub noted this represents the first time people will be able to experience Mickey Mouse in the form of an NFT collectible.
Following Cryptotoys’ usual pricing, each NFT in the collection will cost $39.99. Cryptoys are digital toy collectibles created as NFTs on the Flow blockchain. They are designed for play as well as collecting.
