Solana Founder Against Calling SOL an “Ethereum Killer”

Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana">Solana Labs, voiced disapproval of the popular characterization of Solana as an “Ethereum killer” on social media. Despite similarities enabling developers to port Ethereum tools to Solana, Yakovenko believes the networks can thrive together.

The “Ethereum killer” designation emerged as Solana offered faster speeds, lower costs, and greater efficiency than Ethereum’s original proof-of-work model. Solana has also rolled out Solidity programming tools to onboard Ethereum developers. However, Yakovenko insists Solana succeeding does not require Ethereum failing.

Among top cryptocurrencies, Solana’s SOL token has been a top performer – soaring 220% in recent months. SOL now trades around $63, up from below $20 in June. With active addresses rising, experts forecast SOL could soon surpass $70 as its market cap holds strong as the 6th-largest crypto asset.
