Elon Musk continues to criticize Mark Zuckerberg as Threads, Meta’s version of Twitter, gets closer to reaching 100 million users. Musk has been consistently voicing his concerns about Threads, which is Instagram’s new companion app designed to directly compete with Twitter. This criticism has led to a lawsuit against Meta, accusing the company of hiring former Twitter employees to create the app, which Musk sees as an imitation.
On Sunday, however, the criticism was more direct.
Elon Musk shared a screenshot of a chat between Mark Zuckerberg and the Wendy’s official account on Twitter. Musk added the comment “Zuck is a cuck” to the screenshot. The term “cuck” describes a specific desire in which a person takes pleasure in witnessing their spouse have sex with another person.
The billionaire has consistently criticized Threads and Zuckerberg’s personal background. He even challenged his competitor to a mixed martial arts battle recently.
He described Threads as “Instagram without pictures” over the weekend, which is absurd considering that most users of the program exchange beautiful photos.
In retaliation, Zuckerberg has also fired off a few covert punches. He tweeted for the first time in 11 years on the day Threads was released. He cleverly compared Threads to Twitter by sharing a meme of two spidermen pointing at one another.
Additionally, he commented to other posts on Threads that make fun of Musk, including the one from Wendy that was previously mentioned.
Despite the current feud between the billionaires, data from Quiver Quantitative shows that Zuckerberg still has cause to be happy because Threads has more than 98 million users less than a week after its launch.
With a projected 368 million users worldwide as of December 2022, according to Statista, Musk’s position on Twitter is still significant, but Zuckerberg’s Threads is gaining ground swiftly.
It is still unclear whether Musk and Zuckerberg’s unique social media-based beef is just light-hearted banter or a more serious rivalry.
Both Musk and Zuckerberg have indicated their willingness to take part in the MMA battle that Musk is lobbying for, claims Dana White, president of the UFC. According to White, who claims to have spoken with both parties, the fight might bring in more than a billion dollars.
Dana White earlier this week reaffirmed that Musk and Zuckerberg are both fully committed to the conflict. White said that he does have a date in mind for the match but will disclose it later when questioned about a possible date. He was very clear that the fight will not take place at UFC 300, though.
