Financial disclosures show former President Donald Trump holds over $2.8 million worth of Ethereum, surpassing earlier estimates.
Documents from the non-profit Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington indicate Trump has amassed substantial crypto wealth.
Previous filings stated his Ethereum wallet contained $250,000 – $500,000. However, the latest statement reveals over $2.8 million held in ETH as of July 31st.
In addition, Trump earned around $4.8 million in licensing fees from NFT projects using his likeness. His total crypto-related income nears $7.6 million.
Trump remains skeptical of cryptocurrency, having called Bitcoin a “scam” that competes with the dollar. Yet crypto donations and NFT ventures have proven lucrative for Trump and his political fundraising apparatus.
The disclosures come as Trump aims to return to the presidency in 2024 after losing to Joe Biden in 2020. He currently faces indictment in Georgia for election interference in the state.
While often critical of crypto, Trump’s growing crypto wealth highlights the asset class’ growing influence in political fundraising and campaign operations.
