Upland Sees 70% Faster Digital Asset Creation Through AI Collaboration

Upland, a metaverse platform, has seen great success in its experimental collaboration with the AI startup Kaedim to accelerate 3D asset production. By integrating Kaedim’s image-to-mesh technology into its asset creation process, Upland has achieved a 70% faster production speed for 3D assets.

This allows Upland to populate its immersive virtual world much more rapidly and accelerate the pace of innovation within the game. Upland started as a simple blockchain-based property trading game but has evolved into a robust economy for entrepreneurs, content creators, and gamers, especially after being named an official metaverse partner of FIFA.

Asset creation is crucial in Upland as the game centers around user-generated content. Players can design, manufacture, and trade digital goods and experiences. However, to enable this, Upland needed to provide an easy yet powerful pipeline for players to build assets.

Kaedim’s AI-powered design platform can accelerate 3D asset design by 5-10 times compared to manual work. The assets created are highly detailed, with automatic texturing and animations. By responding to user input to generate asset sketches and then refining them, the asset creation process is nearly fully automated.

Whereas previously it took 3.5 days to produce one Totem model, it now takes less than a day. Overall, the time to design 5,000 Totem lifeforms was reduced by 72%. The streamlined pipeline means creators can frequently update assets based on user feedback, personalize in-game spaces, and have more time to ideate – increasing innovation.
