Ava Labs, the company behind the Avalanche blockchain, is looking to expand its operations in India. The firm has hired Devika Mittal, formerly of OKX, and Kamakshi Arjun, formerly of Polygon, to lead its India business development efforts.
Ava Labs sees India as an important market due to the country’s large and tech-savvy population, as well as the Indian government’s interest in spurring blockchain innovation. The company plans to partner with government agencies and institutions to help build applications on Avalanche.
Mittal said Ava Labs will target the ticketing, certification, and supply chain sectors in India. She highlighted Avalanche’s subnet features as helpful for driving adoption. Arjun brings experience from Polygon India and Tech Mahindra.
Notable Avalanche projects in India include Loco, an esports and streaming platform building Web3 products on a custom Avalanche subnet. Mittal said Ava Labs is already in talks with major Indian institutions and has finalized a deal with a government agency, though details remain undisclosed.
